Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

For four days we have remained with one question. Today it becomes yours.

Who do you say Jesus is?

Not what your family says. Not what your church, former church, favorite author, professor, friend, or social feed says. What conclusion are you presently living by?

Your Functional Answer

We answer Jesus not only with sentences but with allegiance.

A person may call Jesus “Lord” while treating His words as optional. Another may claim uncertainty while earnestly reading, asking, and moving toward the light available to them. The label alone does not reveal the entire answer. Our posture toward Jesus exposes what we believe His authority deserves.

If He is merely a teacher, we may select the lessons we prefer. If He is a prophet, we should ask who sent Him and what message He carries. If He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, then His claims concern every human life—including yours.

An Honest Starting Point

You do not need to pretend that your answer is stronger than it is. The Gospels include confusion, slow understanding, misplaced expectations, fear, doubt, failure, and restored faith among Jesus’ own disciples.

Honesty is better than borrowed certainty. But honest uncertainty should become a reason to investigate, not a permanent shelter from decision.

Write down your current answer:

“I believe Jesus is…”

Then write why. What evidence, experience, assumption, wound, hope, or authority shaped that conclusion?

A Journey Open to Correction

Peter gave the right confession, but his understanding still required correction. He would resist Jesus’ prediction of the cross. He would later deny knowing Jesus. Yet Jesus did not abandon him. The disciple who answered correctly still needed to learn what his answer meant.

That gives us a healthy posture for the days ahead: conviction joined with humility. We come ready to hear Jesus correct both our unbelief and our religious assumptions.
