Day 275 Response Coming next
Step into the scene, feel the tension, and see how a personal moment with Jesus changes everything.
Luke marks a turning point: when the days draw near for Jesus to be taken up, He “set his face to go to Jerusalem.” The journey is deliberate. Jesus is not drifting toward the events that await Him.
Watch: Set His Face Toward Jerusalem
Watch the companion video, then continue reading to examine the biblical testimony in its full context.
Rejected on the Way.
A Samaritan village refuses to receive Him because He is traveling toward Jerusalem. James and John want destructive judgment. Jesus rebukes them and continues to another village.
The Journey Has a Destination.
Jerusalem will become the setting for rejection, death, resurrection, and ultimately the completion of the mission Jesus has been announcing. Luke presents Jesus moving toward that destination intentionally.
Followers Meet the Same Urgency.
Along the road, would-be followers speak with Jesus. His replies are demanding: following Him cannot be reduced to comfort, delay, or divided allegiance.
His Face Is Set.
The passage joins Jesus’ resolve with the cost of following Him. He is going somewhere specific, and those who would follow cannot treat discipleship as an endlessly postponed intention.
Consider this.
