Lean into the exact wording, tracing the force and sequence of what Jesus actually says.
Jesus’ journey toward Jerusalem frames three sharp sayings about following Him. They are not recruitment slogans designed to make discipleship sound easy.

Watch the companion video, then continue reading to examine the biblical testimony in its full context.
The Son of Man Has Nowhere to Lay His Head.
To an eager volunteer, Jesus speaks about His own lack of settled comfort. He does not promise that following Him will secure an easier life.
Follow Me.
Another man asks first to bury his father. Jesus answers with startling urgency and tells him to proclaim the kingdom of God. Whatever the precise family circumstance, the saying refuses to make Jesus’ call indefinitely postponable.
Do Not Look Back.
A third person wants to say farewell at home. Jesus warns that the one who puts a hand to the plow and keeps looking back is not fit for the kingdom of God.
Hear the Direction of His Words.
Jesus is not praising neglect or emotional coldness. He is asserting the priority of God’s kingdom while He Himself moves resolutely toward Jerusalem. His call is serious because His mission is serious.
