What Your Treasure Reveals.

What Your Treasure Reveals.

October: Wisdom for Life and Stewardship.

Jesus does not let your faith stay theoretical.

He goes after your calendar.

He goes after your pride.

He goes after your neighbor.

He goes after your wallet.

Not because money is the only issue, but because money often exposes the real issue.

Jesus says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

That is not financial advice.

That is diagnosis.

Your treasure tells the truth about your heart. What you protect, chase, fear losing, refuse to release, and quietly serve reveals what you actually trust.

You may say God is first.

But your treasure may be telling another story.

You Cannot Serve Two Masters.

Jesus does not soften the issue.

He says, “You cannot serve God and money.”

Not “you should not.”

Cannot.

Money is useful as a tool, but deadly as a master. It promises security, status, comfort, control, and freedom. Then it demands your fear, time, anxiety, loyalty, and worship.

That is why Jesus presses the question beneath the question.

Not merely, “How much do you have?”

But:

What owns you?
What rules your decisions?
What keeps you awake?
What makes you feel safe?
What do you refuse to surrender?

You are not the owner of your life.

You are a steward.

And stewardship begins when you admit that everything you hold has first been given.

Treasure in Heaven.

Jesus says, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”

That command confronts the way we measure value.

We naturally invest in what can be seen, counted, displayed, insured, upgraded, and admired. But Jesus tells us to live for treasure that cannot rot, vanish, be stolen, or die with us.

This does not mean earthly work does not matter.

It means earthly work must answer to eternal reality.

Your money matters.
Your generosity matters.
Your integrity matters.
Your work matters.
Your private choices matter.
Your treatment of people matters.

Jesus does not divide life into “spiritual” and “ordinary” compartments. He claims the whole field.

He says, “Seek first the kingdom of God.”

First means first.

Before greed.
Before ego.
Before comfort.
Before applause.
Before the fragile kingdom of self.

Humility Is Kingdom Wisdom.

Jesus also audits pride.

He says, “Whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

The world says, “Promote yourself.”

Jesus says, “Humble yourself.”

The world says, “Protect your image.”

Jesus says, “Become a servant.”

The world says, “Use people to rise.”

Jesus says, “The greatest among you shall be your servant.”

This is not character coaching.

This is Kingdom wisdom.

Jesus is not trying to make selfish people more polished. He is calling self-ruled people into a life shaped by the Father’s generosity, holiness, mercy, and truth.

He says, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

He says, “Give, and it will be given to you.”

He says, “Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

That standard destroys boasting.

It exposes half-hearted righteousness.

It leaves no room for spiritual pride.

The Decision October Places Before You.

So here is the audit:

What does your treasure reveal?

Are you serving God, or serving what gives you a sense of control?

Are you using money as a tool, or obeying it as a master?

Are you building a monument to your name, or living as a steward under the King?

Are you generous because you have received mercy, or guarded because your heart is still ruled by fear?

Jesus does not ask for a religious corner of your life.

He claims the whole of it.

Your money.
Your pride.
Your plans.
Your neighbor.
Your hidden motives.
Your daily decisions.

The problem is not that you possess things.

The problem is when things possess you.

So will you keep storing up treasure in a world that cannot keep it?

Or will you seek first the Kingdom, live as a steward, and let Jesus expose and rule what your treasure reveals?
