September: The Reality of Eternity
Most people do not deny death.
They just live as if it will not interrupt them.
We build, buy, plan, scroll, save, worry, upgrade, compare, achieve, and distract ourselves while the clock keeps moving. We know life is temporary, but we treat temporary things as if they can carry eternal weight.
Jesus does not let us live comfortably inside that illusion.
He asks, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”
That question cuts through every excuse.
Because you can gain the world and still lose yourself.
Eternity Is Not a Side Issue
Jesus did not speak of eternity as religious decoration.
He spoke of it as reality.
He said, “I am the resurrection and the life.”
He said, “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
He spoke of the Father’s house. He spoke of judgment. He spoke of resurrection. He spoke of the narrow gate. He spoke of people entering life and people being shut out.
That means eternity is not something Jesus added to make His teaching sound serious.
Eternity is part of the world as Jesus reveals it.
And according to Jesus, your life does not end in nothing. Your body will die, but you will not vanish into irrelevance. There is resurrection. There is judgment. There is life. There is loss. There is a door that opens, and there is a door that closes.
Neutrality is a myth.
The Narrow Gate Still Stands
Jesus says, “Enter by the narrow gate.”
That is not popular language.
We prefer wide options, flexible truth, open-ended spirituality, and a version of God that never confronts our self-rule. We want the comfort of eternity without the authority of Christ.
But Jesus does not give us that option.
He says the road to life is narrow.
Not because He is cruel, but because He is the way.
He does not merely point toward life.
He says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
So the question is not whether you like spiritual language.
The question is whether you will come to Jesus.
Religious Words Are Not Enough
Jesus also warns religious people.
He says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.”
That should make every casual believer tremble.
Jesus is not impressed by empty confession, public religion, inherited labels, or spiritual vocabulary without obedience. He does not ask whether His name has passed through your mouth. He asks whether your life belongs to Him.
The broad road can be paved with irreligion.
It can also be paved with religious performance.
That is why September’s Wisdom Keys do not merely ask, “Do you believe eternity exists?”
They ask, “Are you ready to stand before Jesus?”
The Judge Is Also the Savior
This is the terrifying mercy of Jesus.
The One who warns of judgment is the One who offers life.
The One who speaks of hell is the One who says, “I am the resurrection and the life.”
The One who exposes the broad road is the One who opens the narrow gate.
The One who asks about your soul is the One who gave His life as a ransom for many.
So do not confuse urgency with cruelty.
Jesus warns because eternity is real.
Jesus calls because mercy is still being offered.
Jesus commands because your soul is not a small thing.
The Decision September Places Before You
So here is the question:
What are you doing with your soul?
Not your image.
Not your résumé.
Not your money.
Not your plans.
Not your religious label.
Your soul.
Will you keep living as if temporary things can save you?
Will you keep assuming you have more time?
Will you keep walking the broad road because it feels normal, crowded, and easy?
Or will you listen to Jesus?
He is not one opinion among many.
He is the resurrection and the life.
He is the way, the truth, and the life.
He is the Son of Man who will judge.
He is the Savior who still calls.
Will you keep drifting toward eternity unprepared, or will you enter through the narrow gate and come to Christ for life?
